Dress Code
Every ADA dancer wears the same simple uniform for their class and level — it keeps the focus on dancing, lets teachers see alignment clearly, and makes getting ready easy. All items are available in the ADA dance boutique at the studio.
The short version
- Young dancers (3–9): black leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet slippers — and caramel tap shoes for tap.
- Pearl, Ruby & Beginner (7–12): black leotard, pink or caramel tights; ballet slippers, caramel tap shoes, black jazz shoes.
- Amber through Onyx (11+): any-color leotard; pink tights and ballet slippers for ballet; jazz/tap shoes in black or caramel; more flexibility in tops and bottoms.
- Hip-hop (all ages): fitted athletic wear and clean, indoor-only sneakers.
- Hair: always secured off the face — a bun for ballet.

Ages 3–9 Creative Dance I & II · Elementary I, II & III
- Leotard
- Any style black bodice leotard. An elastic-waist or wrap skirt in any color may be worn with (or attached to) the leotard.
- Tights
- Pink
- Ballet shoes
- Pink leather ballet slippers
- Tap shoes
- Caramel-colored tap shoes (all Elementary classes; Creative Dance II from January)
- Hair
- Ponytail, bun, or pulled back away from the face. Short hair must be secured off the face with a headband or barrettes.

Ages 7–12 Pearl, Ruby & Beginner classes — Ballet
- Leotard
- Any style black leotard with no skirt attached. A skirt of any color may be worn; shorts must be black.
- Tights
- Pink or caramel
- Shoes
- Pink leather ballet slippers
- Hair
- Bun required. Short hair secured off the face.

Ages 7–12 Pearl, Ruby & Beginner classes — Tap & Jazz
- Leotard
- Any style black leotard with no skirt attached. Black shorts or black leggings may be worn.
- Tights
- Any color
- Tap shoes
- Caramel-colored tap shoes (required for tap)
- Jazz shoes
- Pink ballet slippers or black jazz shoes
- Hair
- Bun, ponytail, or secured off the face.

Ages 11+ Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Sapphire & Onyx — Ballet & Modern
- Leotard
- Any style black or colored leotard. Skirts and/or black shorts at the teacher's discretion.
- Tights
- Pink
- Ballet shoes
- Pink leather or canvas ballet slippers
- Modern
- Foot undies, FreeForms, or bare feet
- Hair
- Bun required. Hair too short for a bun must be secured off the face.

Ages 11+ Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Sapphire & Onyx — Jazz
- Top
- Any style black or colored leotard, sports bra, or fitted tank top
- Bottoms
- Any color tights, black shorts, or black leggings
- Shoes
- Black or caramel tie or slip-on split-sole jazz shoes
- Hair
- Bun, ponytail, or secured off the face.
No t-shirts or sweatpants in jazz class.

- Top
- Any style black or colored leotard, sports bra, or fitted tank top
- Bottoms
- Any color tights, black shorts, or black leggings
- Shoes
- Black or caramel tie or slip-on tap shoes
- Hair
- Bun, ponytail, or secured off the face.
No t-shirts or sweatpants in tap class.

Ages 6 through adult Hip-Hop — all levels
- Clothing
- Stretch, fitted clothing: t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, capri pants, or jazz pants. No snaps, buttons, or zippers.
- Shoes
- Clean tennis shoes worn only in class — never outside
- Hair
- Secured off the face (no hair down).

All levels Modern, Contemporary & Lyrical
- Top
- Any style black or colored leotard, sports bra, or fitted tank top
- Bottoms
- Any color footless or convertible tights, black shorts, or black leggings
- Feet
- Foot undies, FreeForms, dance socks, or bare feet
- Hair
- Bun, ponytail, or secured off the face.
Please note
Dance apparel is mandatory. Dancers without the correct attire and proper dance shoes may be asked to sit out of class.
Accessories — skirts, leg warmers and dance wrap sweaters — may be worn in any color.
